Focus and Scope
GORILLAS : Journal of Governing Sustainability, Livelihoods and Environmental Affairs is a peer-reviewed academic journal dedicated to advancing scholarly discussions on sustainability governance, livelihoods, and environmental affairs within local, national, and global contexts. The journal aims to provide a rigorous platform for the publication of empirical research, theoretical inquiries, and policy analyses that examine the roles of governments, private sectors, civil society organizations, and local communities in promoting inclusive, equitable, and socially-ecologically resilient sustainable development.
The scope of the journal encompasses, but is not limited to, issues related to natural resource governance, sustainability policies and regulatory frameworks, collaborative and multi-level governance, and the application of good governance principles in environmental management. It also welcomes contributions addressing sustainable livelihoods, community empowerment, climate resilience, green and circular economy transitions, and socio-economic transformations grounded in sustainability principles. In the field of environmental affairs, the journal covers topics such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity conservation, sustainable forest, coastal and marine management, sustainable agriculture, pollution and waste management, and environmental justice. Adopting an interdisciplinary perspective, GORILLAS invites contributions from the fields of governance and public administration, public policy, environmental studies, sociology, development economics, development studies, and other related disciplines that engage with sustainability-related themes.
