About the Journal

DESA: Journal of Rural Development and Governance is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to advancing critical scholarship on dedicated to advancing critical, empirical, and conceptual scholarship on rural development and local governance amid evolving social, political, economic, digital, and environmental landscapes. E-ISSN: XXXX-XXXX The journal aims to serve as an academic platform for the production of alternative forms of knowledge that challenge the journal seeks to provide an academic platform for disseminating research that positions rural areas as strategic sites of development and as arenas where state, society, and market actors interact, negotiate power, and shape institutional transformation. DESA is published Three issues per year, April, August, and December. DESA  welcomes original research articles, conceptual and theoretical papers, and critical analyses that align with the journal’s focus and scope, with a strong emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches and perspectives from the Global South
