Publication Ethics

DESA: Journal of Rural Development and Governance is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity. All parties involved in the publication process—including authors, editors, and reviewers—are expected to adhere to ethical principles in research and scholarly communication.

Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, have not been published elsewhere, and are not under consideration by another journal. Proper acknowledgment of sources, accurate reporting of data, and compliance with ethical standards in research involving Indigenous peoples and customary communities are required. Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, and unethical research practices are strictly prohibited.

Editors are responsible for making fair and independent publication decisions based solely on scholarly merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, and ethical considerations. Reviewers are expected to conduct objective, confidential, and constructive reviews, and to disclose any potential conflicts of interest.

The journal follows established ethical guidelines and takes appropriate action in cases of suspected misconduct, including investigation, correction, or retraction when necessary.
